Since released from prison, for a crime he never committed, Rubin Carter has traveled the world on behalf of all those victimized by the state. He has addressed the General Assembly of the United Nations, lectured at university campuses around the world, both large and small, appeared on Oprah and has visited countless prisons to meet with those men and women wrongfully imprisoned and to work for their release.
In 2003, along with Nelson Mandela, Rubin was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia. With the assistance of the University, in 2004, Dr. Carter formed INNOCENCE INTERNATIONAL, an international clearing house which aids and assists all those groups and people involved in seeking to free the wrongfully convicted. In 2004, Dr. Carter received an Honorary Doctorate from York University in Toronto.
Since his release from prison, Rubin has visited and spoken on campuses and legislatures throughout North America. He has addressed the United Nations General Assembly.
Along with his writing partner Ken Klonsky, Dr. Carter has written his first book in almost thirty years, THE WAY OF THE ONE-EYED MAN. The book will tell the story of Rubin’s spiritual journey since his release from prison and the many battles he has fought and is still fighting for the freedom of others.
